A workshop titled “Challenges of Overproduction of Plastic Products and Plastic Waste in the World and in Armenia” was recently held.
The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Environment of the RA and the Armenian Women for Health and a Healthy Environment NGO, within the framework of the “Strengthening National Capacity of the Republic of Armenia in Sound Chemicals and Waste Management for Implementation of the Stockholm, Basel, Rotterdam, Minamata Conventions and SAICM” project.
Speakers at the workshop addressed the use and associated challenges of plastic products in Armenia, legislative measures aimed at reducing single-use plastics, key issues in the ongoing negotiations on the Global Plastics Treaty, as well as the use of plastics in agriculture.
Representatives from the Ministry of Environment of the RA, Ministry of Health of the RA, Ministry of Economy of the RA, Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the RA, Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RA, the State Revenue of the RA, the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body, Food Safety Inspection Body, Market Surveillance Inspection Body, Urban Development Inspection Body, Technical and Fire Safety Inspection Body, the Statistical Committee of the RA, the Yerevan Aarhus Center, as well as various public organizations.
