Third Workshop on Developing Guidelines for Assessing Climate Risks, Losses, and Damages Was Held

The third workshop, organized within the framework of the “Development of Technical Guidelines for Risk Assessment to Inform Management Approaches in Responding to Losses and Damages” project, was held on June 17–18.
The two-day event brought together over 30 representatives from the Ministry of Environment of the RA, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the RA, the Ministry of Economy of the RA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RA, the Ministry of Finance of the RA, the Statistical Committee of the RA, and other state institutions.
Participants were introduced to the draft technical guidance on climate risk, loss, and damage assessment, developed by international and local experts. They also reviewed project concepts aimed at attracting international funding to support the implementation of targeted, evidence-based measures.
The observations, suggestions, and concerns raised by participants will be reviewed by the expert group during the finalization of the guidelines and project concepts, to ensure their practical applicability in both the planning and implementation stages, as well as their alignment with Armenia’s climate policy and international commitments.
The event was opened by Konstantin Sokulsky, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Armenia, and Lilit Abrahamyan, Head of the Water Policy Department of the Ministry of Environment of the RA. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance and relevance of the project in light of the increasing frequency and intensity of hazardous climate phenomena.
The project is implemented by the UNDP Armenia Office, with support from the NDC Partnership Action Fund, and in close cooperation with the Ministry of Environment of the RA.
