Study Visit to Germany as Part of Experience Exchange on Biosphere Reserves

From May 19 to 23, the Armenian delegation visited the Federal Republic of Germany to study effective management models of biosphere reserves. The delegation included Sergo Atanesyan, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, Sevak Markosyan, Director of the “Environmental Impact Expertise Center” SNCO, representatives from the Ministry and “Dilijan” National Park.
During the visit, the participants learned about:
Biosphere reserve management models,
Experiences in involving local communities,
Mechanisms for monitoring, ecotourism, and eco education.
The Armenian delegation also met with Ms. Bodderas, Senior Specialist of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, who reaffirmed the readiness to cooperate towards creating a biosphere reserve in Armenia.
The visit was organized as part of the “Biosphere Reserves as Model Regions for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation” program.
