Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan Participated in the Ministerial Breakfast Meeting of African Ministers of Environment

As the host and chair of the COP17, Armenia was invited to the ministerial breakfast meeting of African Ministers of Environment held within the framework of UNEA-7 to present the conference’s preparatory work and priorities.
In his remarks, Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, outlined the infrastructural and organizational work already completed. He stressed that, in assuming the presidency of COP17, Armenia will be guided by the principles of inclusiveness, transparency, high ambition, and concrete action.
The Minister also presented the four main directions shaping the conference agenda:

  • Effective organization of the global assessment,
  • Building capacities for coordinating financial flows,
  • Full inclusion of Indigenous Peoples and local communities,
  • Promoting education, awareness-raising, and multi-layered cooperation.

In conclusion, Hambardzum Matevosyan emphasized Armenia’s determination to make COP17 a true platform for action and reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to welcome all parties in a warm and considerate environment—building bridges between countries, ecosystems, and generations.
