Today, Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA received Françoise Jacob, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Armenia and Dennis Besedic, Head of the Resident Coordinatotr Office.
Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, also participated in the meeting.
The primary focus of the discussion was the organizational aspects of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which is scheduled to be held in Armenia in 2026.
During the meeting, the key directions for organizing the conference were discussed — from venue selection and technical arrangements to strategies for raising public awareness and ensuring an inclusive environment that enables full participation by all stakeholders.
The parties agreed to intensify cooperation at both the organizational and substantive levels to ensure that COP17 serves as an effective platform for shaping global environmental policy and facilitating the exchange of best practices.
Minister Matevosyan expressed confidence that joint efforts would contribute to the high-level organization of the conference and generate a lasting impact on the global environmental agenda.
