Issues Related to Afforestation and Drainage Works in Landslide-Prone Areas, As Well As Tightening Control Over Illegal Logging, Were Discussed

On August 7, 2025, a regular session of the interagency working group was held at the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RA, chaired by Kamo Tsutsulyan, Director of the Rescue Service-Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
During the session, participants discussed the implementation of preventive environmental measures in landslide-prone and high-risk land areas, as well as the need to strengthen control over illegal logging.
Representatives from various state bodies participated in the session, including Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA and Vladimir Kirakosyan, Head of the Eco-Patrol Service.
During the discussion, particular attention was given to areas that, despite not being included in landslide risk maps, are highly vulnerable to external impacts. The need for further studies in these areas was emphasized to enable targeted preventive measures.
The meeting agenda also covered the planning and coordination of afforestation and drainage activities within local community areas. Special attention was given to incidents of illegal logging in community-owned forested lands, alongside a review of their prevention mechanisms.
Representatives of the Ministry of Environment of the RA highlighted the importance of interdepartmental cooperation in environmental policy, noting that discussions in such a format enable comprehensive problem analysis and the formulation of effective solutions.
