Deputy Minister Vahe Davtyan Discussed the Progress of FAO Programmes in Forestry and the Upcoming Assessment Mission

Vahe Davtyan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, met with Raimund Jehle, Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Armenia. The discussion focused on the progress of ongoing forestry programmes, their current implementation stages, and the organizational matters related to the upcoming assessment mission.
The Ministry, in cooperation with FAO, is currently implementing the “Forest Resilience of Armenia, Enhancing Adaptation and Rural Green Growth Via Mitigation” project. The project aims to significantly strengthen the stability and resilience of Armenia’s forest ecosystems while simultaneously fostering the development of rural communities.
The target provinces of the project—Lori and Syunik—were selected based on forest ecosystem characteristics, population density, socio-economic indicators, and assessments of climate change impacts.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the importance of continued partnership, noting that the initiative plays a key role in fulfilling Armenia’s climate commitments and promoting the sustainable development of rural communities.
