EU4Sevan achievements were summarized in the Gegharkunik region and further steps of cooperation were discussed with the local government representatives

On December 2, the Gegharkunik regional administration, regional local government representatives and the leaders of enlarged communities discussed the currently implemented activities and already recorded results within the framework of the EU4Sevan project. Further cooperation based on these activities were discussed with a view of replicating these throughout the Lake Sevan Basin.
Welcoming the guests, Christian Henschel, EU4Sevan Team Leader noted that Lake Sevan has both environmental, socio-economic, and vital importance for Armenia, therefore preservation of the lake's ecosystem is one of the most important environmental issues and one of the priority goals of the project. "Through the EU4Sevan project, we want to unite different layers of society and different structures, so that they work together to raise problems and identify the best solutions, as well as for the proper management of the environment of Lake Sevan. "The active role of the Gegharkunik regional administration and the local self-government bodies is crucial for the achievement of this goal," Christian Henschel presented.
Summarizing the meeting, Martin Petrosyan, the head of the Department of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of the Gegharkunik Marzpeter's Office, thanked for the work done and assured that the Gegharkunik regional administration and local governments will do everything possible to ensure the full and effective implementation of the activities planned in the program.
