Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, met with Timothy Straight, Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Armenia, and Gaute Hanssen, Policy Director of the Ministry of Climate and Environment of Norway.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the organization and preparatory process for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be held in Armenia in 2026. Deputy Minister Meymaryan outlined the ongoing activities in this regard, including the establishment of working groups, the engagement of international partners, and the preparation of infrastructural and technical measures.
The meeting also addressed agenda items related to biodiversity conservation, including the strengthening of policy instruments and approaches to presenting environmental and biodiversity issues within the framework of international cooperation.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening Armenian-Norwegian cooperation in the environmental sector, particularly in the areas of biodiversity conservation, environment-based scientific research programmes, and the green transition.
