A workshop entitled “Wetland Restoration Expertise Exchange” was held with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia and other key stakeholders.
The event was organized as part of the European “Restore4Life” initiative, which seeks to promote the restoration of wetland landscapes and support sustainable livelihoods through knowledge exchange, digital innovation, and inclusive management approaches.
This initiative focuses on the restoration of key wetlands in Armenia, the Danube Basin, as well as in Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, and Ukraine, with the aim of supporting ecosystem conservation and fostering community development.
In Armenia, the project includes a dedicated subcomponent titled “Restoration and Protection of Unique Salt Marshes in the Ararat Valley of the Republic of Armenia.” This component aims to restore the Armash Wetland, transforming it into a wildlife-based tourism destination and promoting its inclusion in the Emerald Network.
These efforts also contribute to the preparatory process for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
