During a working visit to Syunik region, Deputy Minister of Environment Aram Meymaryan visited the territories of programs implemented under the PTAC-a program in the region and got acquainted with the work done.
The purpose of the program "Protected Areas Assistance Program-Armenia", implemented under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, is to improve the protection of natural resources of the protected areas of Syunik region in the southern part of Armenia and the management of these territories, strengthen the capabilities of state structures that have a direct impact on the protection of biodiversity, and promote 7 protected areas managed by the Zangezur Biosphere Complex" while improving the socio-economic situation of the surrounding communities.

The Deputy Minister got acquainted with the administrative building purchased in the city of Kapan for 3 structures operating within the Ministry of the Environment (the Zangezur Biosphere Complex, the Kapan Forestry branch of the Armles, the Department of Territorial Administration of the Southern Basin), having studied the conditions of the building on the spot, as well as social programs implemented in the settlements of Shikakhoh, Srashen, Nerkin hand, Tsav (installation of windows, water heaters, replacement of roofs, provision of energy-saving stoves, road lighting and other programs).
The Deputy Minister also visited a parking lot and an agricultural market near the Meghri Customs and the M-2 interstate road within the framework of the program. The steps and possibilities of more efficient organization of the latter's work were discussed on the spot, since the current situation is not enough.
