Working Meeting with the Delegation of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)

Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, held a meeting with Joseph Karl Pelikan, Special Representative for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO); Solomeya Omelia, Head of the UNIDO Europe and Central Asia Office; and Zhirayr Edilyan, UNIDO Representative in Armenia.
After welcoming the delegation members, Aram Meymaryan expressed his gratitude for their visit to Armenia and participation in the "Yerevan Dialogue" international conference, underscoring the importance of such platforms in strengthening international cooperation in the environmental sector.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the effective cooperation between the Ministry of Environment of the RA and UNIDO, highlighting successful programs and initiatives, particularly in the areas of professional capacity development, technical modernization, and public awareness.
The importance of sustained cooperation in promoting environmental sustainability and effectively fulfilling the international commitments undertaken by the Republic of Armenia was emphasized. The parties also explored opportunities for launching new initiatives and expanding partnerships.
  The Deputy Minister highlighted the ongoing preparations for the COP 17 conference, noting that it presents not only an opportunity to strengthen Armenia’s international standing but also a platform to showcase the country’s achievements in biodiversity conservation and to advance national strategies addressing global environmental challenges.
