The results of the climate risk and vulnerability assessment of the Tourism sector in Armenia were presented within the framework of the UNDP-GSF NAP project and the draft adaptation program

The results of the climate risk and vulnerability assessment in the Tourism sector in Armenia were summarized at an online workshop organized by the National Adaptation Program in Armenia (NAP) within the framework of the UNDP-GCF NAP project, and the draft adaptation program was presented.  The works were carried out by “EV Consulting” CJSC.
Deputy Minister of Environment Anna Mazmanyan noted that the measures and actions necessary for the adaptation of the tourism sector to the negative impacts of climate change still need in-depth disclosure.
"Although there is an impression that tourism in Armenia is well developed, for example, in 2019 we had a record number of visitors in terms of sectoral strategy and infrastructure development approaches in terms of climate change, I think we still have a lot to do.  I especially emphasize the need to raise the awareness of all stakeholders involved in climate change, so that they, in turn, can inform tourists about it," said Deputy Minister Mazmanyan, adding that work should be done to raise awareness of hotels and restaurants in the field about their potential impact on carbon footprint reduction.
The aim of the workshop was to present and discuss with stakeholders the results of the climate change risk and vulnerability assessment, identify areas of activity, types and stakeholders most vulnerable to climate change, present priority adaptation measures, how to collect comments  for their purpose.
