The presentation of the program aimed at improving the energy efficiency of multi-apartment buildings with the support of UNDP within the framework of the subventional program for the development of community infrastructures took place

The presentation was attended by Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment Grigor Ghoulyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of RA Gnel Sanosyan, Permanent Representative of the UNDP in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili.
Attaching importance to the key importance of improving energy efficiency, as well as preserving the housing stock of the Republic and thereby increasing the service life of apartment buildings, as an exception, the program of energy-efficient modernization of apartment buildings in settlements of the Republic has been included in the framework of the subventional program since 2020, which is being implemented with the support of the government, the community and UNDP, with funding from the Green Climate Fund, under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia.
In 2020, according to the subventional program, energy efficiency improvement programs were implemented for 55 apartment buildings in 8 communities, of which 38 were fully modernized, and 17 were partially.
The total cost amounted to about 2.4 billion drams, of which the co-financing of the state budget of Armenia amounted to 1.61 billion drams. The works of 28 buildings in the communities of Spitak, Akhtala, Stepanavan and Tashir of the Lori region of the Republic of Armenia, Ijevan of the Tavush region of the Republic of Armenia and Vedi of the Ararat region of the Republic of Armenia have already been completed.
Energy efficiency programs of apartment buildings of the communities of Kajaran Syunik region, Ashtarak Aragatsotn region of the Republic of Armenia are in the process.
Of the programs approved in 2021, energy efficiency improvement programs are being implemented for 30 apartment buildings totaling 987.14 million drams in the communities of Akhtala, Lori region, Sisian and Kajaran, Syunik region, and Dilijan and Berd, Tavush region, RA. Work on energy efficiency modernization of 16 more buildings approved in 2021 will be carried out in 2022 in the communities of Vanadzor and Tashir in the Lori region of Armenia.
Under this program, greenhouse gas emissions are significantly reduced in thermally separated buildings, contributing to environmental protection, and owners save about 50% of utility costs for heating and cooling. As an additional benefit, we can also note an increase in the market value of apartments in these buildings by 10-15%.
