The Eighth Session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Aarhus Convention Started in Geneva

The Eighth Session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Aarhus Convention has officially started in Geneva.
During the session, the Parties are expected to adopt a number of significant decisions in the areas of access to information, public participation in decision-making, access to justice, and public involvement in international decision-making processes.
In her statement, Mari Chakryan, Legal Advisor to the Ministry of Environment of the RA, and National Coordinator of the Aarhus Convention, noted that the Republic of Armenia stands ready to cooperate with the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee to ensure full alignment with the provisions of the Convention.
She also highlighted that a draft amendment to the Law on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is currently being developed, incorporating the recommendations of the Compliance Committee. The draft will be discussed with a wide range of stakeholders in the near future.
