Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, met with H.E. Mr. Nikola Nikolov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Armenia.
During the meeting, the parties discussed organizational and agenda-related issues concerning the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17). The Minister noted that Armenia will make consistent and maximum efforts to ensure that the Conference becomes an effective platform for adopting important decisions in the field of environmental protection, strengthening international priorities, and developing strategic policy documents.
Other sector-specific issues were also addressed during the discussion, including opportunities to deepen cooperation in water resources management, exchange experience in the implementation of climate policies, as well as develop joint initiatives and capacity-building efforts.
The importance of expanding bilateral cooperation was emphasized, particularly in the areas of sustainable development, climate adaptation, and environmental protection. At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue effective dialogue and practical cooperation aimed at promoting mutually beneficial programmes and achieving tangible results.
