Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan Received a Delegation Led by H.E. Ms. Claudia Busch, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany

Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan received a delegation led by H.E. Ms. Claudia Busch, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany.
During the meeting, the Minister highly appreciated the cooperation established between the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Republic of Germany, emphasizing that Germany is one of Armenia’s most reliable partners in the field of environmental protection. The partners noted that bilateral cooperation is effective and has significant potential for further development.
The parties discussed a number of organizational and agenda-related issues concerning the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17). The Ambassador noted that she was impressed by the conference logo and the underlying concept, assessing it as an important message of nature conservation and international cooperation.
A range of issues aimed at ensuring further mutually beneficial and comprehensive cooperation was also discussed. In particular, the parties touched upon efforts to strengthen and develop the capacities of the Eco-Patrol Service, emphasizing the importance of ensuring effective control and protection in the sector.
Possible formats of cooperation in the organization of COP17, as well as areas for experience exchange and technical assistance, were also discussed.
The parties separately and extensively addressed afforestation and reforestation activities, as well as the international commitments undertaken by the Republic of Armenia in this area. They emphasized the importance of restoring forest ecosystems, mitigating the effects of climate change, and implementing joint initiatives to preserve biodiversity.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to deepen cooperation and continue constructive dialogue in the interests of environmental protection and sustainable development.
