Deputy Minister of Environment Anna Mazmanyan met with Romeo Bertolini in Glasgow

The delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Environment Anna Mazmanyan met with a delegation headed by Deputy Director of Country Engagement for the NDC Partnership Support Unit Romeo Bertolini in Glasgow.
Anna Mazmanyan noted the importance of the involvement of the NDC Partnership at the national level in the implementation of the requirements and provisions of the Paris Agreement.
The Deputy Minister presented the current state of implementation of the partnership plan, in particular, 6 seminars with the participation of the private sector, donors, implementing partners, the expert community and other stakeholders, which were organized by the Armenian Office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment.
Deputy Minister Mazmanyan touched upon the importance of further compliance of the implementation of the NDC Partnership Plan with the priorities of the government, which, among other things, stem from the double crisis (including green restoration and the growth of resilience to climate change).
The importance of the seminars organized by UNDP was also emphasized. They made it possible to gather the views of stakeholders on the needs and gaps in the country, which will be included in the NDC Partnership Plan for the implementation of the NDC revised in 2021-2030 for a period of time.
The parties touched upon the assessment of individual programs and financial needs of the partnership plan, which should be implemented in order to attract donors and agencies implementing the NDC partner network in order to assist the government.
The Deputy Minister noted that capacity development is important for developing countries, including Armenia, which use the opportunities and mechanisms specified in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, one of which is the carbon market.
The possibility of formulating the needs of the country in accordance with the partnership program supported by the NDC Partnership actions identified at the national level was emphasized.
The proposal to join Armenia to the working group on access to climate finance, co-chaired by the UK and Fiji, was made for countries facing problems of bureaucracy to ensure climate investment.
The parties agreed to continue cooperation within the framework of #cop26.
