Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan Received a Delegation Led by Christine Weigand, UNICEF Representative in Armenia

Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA received a delegation led by Christine Weigand, UNICEF Representative in Armenia. 
The Ministry has a long history of effective cooperation with UNICEF. Joint efforts are particularly important in strengthening children's resilience to disasters and climate change.
During the meeting, the parties discussed climate change challenges, the development of environmental education, youth engagement, and awareness-raising. They also addressed opportunities for cooperation in the framework of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17).
UNICEF in Armenia attaches great importance to environmental education and youth participation in decision-making. Minister Matevosyan highlighted programmes that strengthen the resilience of children and adolescents to the impacts of climate change.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the activities of the Youth Council on Climate Change, established under the Ministry of Environment of the RA and UNICEF. Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan stressed the importance of engaging the Youth Council members in the organizational work of COP17, noting that this will allow them to become full participants in the process and contribute to the success of the conference.
Concluding the meeting, Minister Matevosyan expressed confidence that the partnership with UNICEF will continue to deepen, supporting the creation of a sustainable future for children, youth, and communities.
