A meeting was held at the Ministry of Environment of the RA with Laura Milne, Director of the Armenian Office of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI). Ministry specialists and Marie Chakryan, the National Coordinator of the Aarhus Convention took part in the discussion.
The parties discussed potential cooperation on rights-based environmental governance, access to environmental justice, green and just transitions, and the protection of human rights within the framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
The RWI has experience providing expert support to meetings of the Parties to the CBD, and the institute’s potential involvement in the preparatory processes for COP17 was highlighted.
The Armenian office of the RWI is currently implementing several environmental programmes and is developing strategic directions for 2026–2027, with a particular emphasis on the importance of environmental rights.
