The meeting focused on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Environment of the RA, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, the Japanese company KOMAIHALTEC, and the “Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine” CJSC.
Sergo Atanesyan, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of the memorandum, noting that it aligns with the priorities of environmental protection and climate policy.
The initiative brings together the efforts of the state, the private sector, and international partners to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, and promote the use of renewable energy.
The Republic of Armenia has adopted a Low-Carbon Development Strategy to 2050, and this project may serve as an example of successfully combining industrial development with climate responsibility.
The parties expressed confidence that the cooperation will be effective and will contribute to the introduction of international best practices.
