Hambardzum Matevosyan, Minister of Environment of the RA, met with Arman Vermishyan Country Director -Armenia of the Caucasus Nature Fund (CNF) and Arman Avagyan, Program Manager
The meeting marked an important step in defining new guidelines within the framework of the long-standing and productive cooperation between the Ministry of Environment of the RA and the CNF.
Since 2009, the CNF has been operating in Armenia as a reliable partner of the Ministry in the field of nature conservation, consistently supporting the country’s specially protected nature areas, contributing to the development of management systems, and providing financial and technical assistance.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current areas of cooperation, existing challenges, and the priorities identified in the sector, with the aim to implementing joint programs in a more targeted and effective manner.
The discussion also focused on the organization of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be held in Armenia in 2026. The parties considered possible formats for CNF’s involvement and support in the preparatory and organizational works of the conference.
The Minister expressed confidence that cooperation between the parties would continue to develop and strengthen, serving the preservation of Armenia’s biodiversity and the effective management of its natural resources.
