Deputy Minister Aram Meymaryan Participated in the Meeting Titled “From Cali to Belém — Coherent Action for a Livable Planet”

Within the framework of the 27th session of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Aram Meymaryan, Deputy Minister of Environment of the RA, participated in the meeting entitled “From Cali to Belém — Coherent Action for a Livable Planet” held in Panama, where he presented Armenia’s priorities and positions.
In his address, the Deputy Minister underscored that the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and land degradation are deeply interconnected, and that adopting an integrated approach to effectively address them is no longer a matter of choice, but a necessity. In this context, he highlighted the role of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework as a roadmap for achieving common goals and ensuring policy coherence.
Deputy Minister Aram Meymaryan presented the steps undertaken by Armenia, including:

  • the integration of the National Biodiversity Strategy with climate and land policies,
  • Armenia’s support for the simplification and harmonization of reporting systems,
  • and the importance of inclusive and predictable environmental financing, particularly for small economies.

“From Cali to Belém, and from Belém to Yerevan, our goal remains the same — to strengthen international cooperation and turn environmental policy into action,” emphasized Aram Meymaryan, reaffirming Armenia’s readiness to effectively chair the COP17.
