This marks Astrid Schomaker’s regular visit to Armenia to review the preparatory work for the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (#COP17), scheduled to be held in Armenia in 2026.
During the discussion, the organizational process, infrastructural and professional preparations, as well as the opportunities that #COP17 presents for Armenia as a regional platform for biodiversity conservation and environmental cooperation, were reviewed.
The conference provides a unique opportunity to showcase Armenia as a responsible partner in shaping the global environmental agenda. Emphasis was placed on international cooperation through the exchange of knowledge, experience, and best practices to achieve the shared goal of biodiversity conservation.
Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan noted that, through joint and consistent efforts, Armenia will host this important event with distinction, once again demonstrating the country’s readiness and capacity to support global environmental initiatives.
