The Air Quality Monitoring System Will Be Fully Updated By 2030

At its August 14 session, the executive branch approved a draft developed by the Ministry of Environment, which will completely update the air quality monitoring system by 2030.
The new regulations provide for:

  • New air quality standards aligned with the strictest guidelines of the World Health Organization,
  • Installation of 14 stationary and 2 mobile monitoring stations in various settlements across Armenia,
  • Modernization of chemical and reference laboratories,
  • Air pollution modeling and forecasting tools,
  • Clear definition of limit and target values for harmful substances, indicators of permissible exceedances of limit values, emphasizing both short-term and long-term effects of harmful substances on human health.

This step will contribute to the modernization of the state policy on atmospheric air protection and ensuring a high level of public health.
