Armenia is required to submit its National Report to the Secretariat of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (Aarhus Convention) by 20 May 2025, six months ahead of the next Meeting of the Parties.
To ensure a more participatory and transparent process in compiling the National Report, a public discussion on the draft National Report on the Implementation of the Aarhus Convention for 2021–2024 was held at the Aarhus Center of the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO of the Ministry of Environment of the RA.
Silva Ayvazyan, Head of the Aarhus Center the "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO of the Ministry of Environment of the RA, delivered a welcoming speech. The draft National Report was presented by Mari Chakryan, National Coordinator of the Aarhus Convention.
Representatives of relevant professional departments and structures of the Ministry of Environment, as well as non-governmental organizations, participated in the discussion. The suggestions and observations presented by the participants will be included in the final version of the report.
The event was organized with the support of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) within the framework of the “Strengthening Aarhus Centers in the OSCE Area for Promotion of Good Governance Principles in Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development” project. The project is implemented by the “Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center” SNCO.
